Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Additional Developments

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

It said wreckage landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
